Located just 20 minutes from central Nelson, this sheltered, secluded setting is perfect for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations. On-site ceremonies are especially popular under our romantic weeping willow, beside a dreamy pond and quaint wooden bridge. After the “I do’s,” guests can enjoy the spacious garden and decking area before moving inside to a beautifully decorated, character-filled reception space.

Your wedding photos? A breeze.

With stunning photo spots on-site and nearby, you’re spoiled for choice—take a five-minute drive and capture beach or vineyard scenes in Mapua or Rabbit Island.

Food is a highlight at The Playhouse.

Co-owner and chef Manuela Fuhrimann will work with you to create a personalised menu, from a gourmet five-course degustation to a relaxed Kiwi-style BBQ.

  • Pack-in Time: Access from 7am on the day of your wedding

  • Pack-out Time: Venue must be packed down by 11am the following day

    (Licensed hours: 11am to midnight)

  • Transport: We can arrange transport for groups from 1 to 100 people

  • Entertainment: From acoustic sets to 7-piece bands—we know Nelson’s best and can help you book

Venue Hire Pricing

  • $1,000 – Third weekend of November to first weekend of January

  • $500 – Remainder of January to Easter

  • FREE – Rest of the year!
